Dragon Fly
Medium: Mixed Media: glass, beads, rhinestones, abalone and metal
Dimensions: 8 x 9 x 2 inches
Price: $500
This dragonfly is my talisman for the coming year — these creatures symbolize change and accepting new beginnings and opportunities. Because the dragonfly is only in its final form for a few months, it is a symbol of living in the moment. I hope this year brings us much goodness, the wisdom to see it, and the health to appreciate it. Peace.

The Ooze
Medium: Glass: fused glass
Dimensions: 12 x 12 x 1 inches
Price: $300
I saw through my art making that the viral epicenter in our world kept creeping into my work. “The Ooze” depicted this constancy for me. The picture frame, representing my art, morphed into constant thoughts of viral penetration possibilities in my life. The red COVID spheres popped out in my thoughts and daily activities, flooding me with fears of the illness.

Memory Trunk
Medium: Mixed Media: found objects, vintage textiles, silk, linen
Dimensions: 27 x 25 x 25 inches
Price: NFS
The looters came for the memories of the mind while the body was in lockdown. They stripped off the silk bindings to reveal the cabinet of curiosities that had been enshrouded all those years. All the bits and pieces lying in the trunk seemed very random, yet they formed a lifetime and had at one time composed a serious history of an individual, even if only an average person of humble means.

Our Flag Was Still There
Medium: Clay: polymer clay on glass, wood frame
Dimensions: 16 x 12 x 1 inches
Price: $150
On January 6, 2021, supporters of Donald J. Trump stormed the Capitol to interrupt the constitutionally required certification of the state elector ballots necessary to facilitate a transfer of power. The frenzied mob was focused on advancing the “Stop the Steal” rhetoric spun by Trump so he could remain in office. Not only was this painful, destructive and chaotic scene rooted in a total fiction but it was actually a violent insurrection, inspired and provoked by our own President, having lost his grip over his destructive impulses, aided by his deranged attorney, his sons and GOP elected officials complicit in this lie. We witnessed lawmakers hiding in fear wearing gas masks. Five people died. I had no words then to express my feelings but this image kept me up that night. My craft work is characteristically inspired by the beauty I experience around me. . . But there was nothing ordinary about what we have all just experienced.

At The Eleventh Hour
Medium: Mixed Media: air vent, safety pins, Pez dispenser, hardware, found objects, wire, embroidery thread
Dimensions: 11 x 10 x 5 inches
Price: $1200
This piece depicts my anxiety about the collective safety and integrity of this country as the clock winds down on Trump’s lunacy of a presidency. We have become a battleground, with the riotous rampage on our Capitol, the desecration of pillars of our democracy and the chaotic response to the Covid virus even as a new strain spins out of control. This mockery-of-a-leader has fully turned his back on us as he basks in the anarchy, fury and violence he unleashed. His self-serving dispensations are reminiscent of Marie Antoinette’s proclamation, ”Let them eat cake.”
We feel so vulnerable at this point in time. With seemingly feeble, frantic means, we do our best to buckle down, remain safe and secure ourselves against this untimely eruption from our very core. As we run towards a new era we wonder what will it bring?

Despoiler
Medium: Wood: wood, wax, aluminum foil
Dimensions: 63 x 20 x 13 inches
Price: $3000
It has long been acknowledged by the scientific community that humans bear much responsibility for the damage being inflicted on our planet. Toxic fumes flow from many industries across the country as well as the cars we drive polluting the air we breathe. Toxic run-off from industrial waste challenges our drinking water and the health of our streams, rivers and lakes for healthy fish life. All manner of human, insect and animal life are suffering the consequences of our behavior. My hope is that “Despoiler” acts as a reminder to heed the call to change our thinking and our doing. Saving our planet from drastic climate change has a limited time period.

Complicated Darkness
Medium: Clay: white stoneware
Dimensions: 5 x 8.5 x 7.5 inches
Price: $78
I returned to New York in March, the day before total lockdown. The world seemed crazy, out of control and very dark. There were so many things to think about and very little guidance. Experts said yes, then shortly said no. Living was complicated with little room to maneuver. It seemed daunting. My work at that time mirrored that feeling. The shapes I was creating kept turning inward and getting more and more maze like. Or they were a series of tunnels that wove in and out. No way to escape, no way to get back to the light. In this submission, “Complicated Darkness,” when light finally does emerge at the top, it is in the shape of large craters which you fall back into and into the darkness. The sculpture felt like my life at that moment.

World on Fire
Medium: Fiber: wool, beads
Dimensions: 13 x 13 x 25 inches
Price: NFS
I spent most of 2020 inside my home watching TV reports of the growing spread of infections and death from the COVID virus. Beading and weaving an image of the enemy felt like a way to control my anxiety. In particular, the repetitive motion of sewing on each was soothing. The resulting piece helps to remind me to stay safe and observe the rules at this dangerous time.

Sparkling Isolation
Medium: Glass: kiln-worked glass
Dimensions: 18 x 13 x 4 inches with stand
Price: $350
In late March 2020, the weather was cold but brightly sunlit. It was the first time since I was thirteen years old that I did not have a job to go to. Art shows were canceled so there was no pressing work to be done in the studios. It was stunning. The beautiful sparkling day belied what was happening. In the sun, this piece does sparkle. It just came to me. I think it speaks to light and hope and aloneness.
